About Wooloomooloo Steakhouse Wan Chai
Amazing city views make it worth the lift ride up to the 31st floor of this prime piece of Wan Chai real estate. This branch of the Aussie steakhouse is a solid spot for a great slab of meat; the restaurant is unspectacular save for the views. But the bar, located one floor up on the roof is really breath-taking. It’s a vast deck that provides views of Hong Kong not commonly seen elsewhere. With seats facing out to the harbour on one side and other pieces of furniture ringing the terrace that command views towards Happy Valley, south and east, it’s easy to find a perch. With a backdrop as good as this, there’s not much more that the establishment needs to do to keep patrons happy apart from serve up some fine cocktails. The Wooloomooloo signature martini is one to plump for, a zinging cooler of vodka, apple schnapps, grapefruit and apple juice and fresh mint. Elsewhere, classics like mojitos are done efficiently and effectively. Food remains downstairs, but DJs spin on the deck on Friday and Saturday nights to give an open-air party vibe. Keep your eyes on the skies as well as the views, as to the often changing Hong Kong weather could ruin the party; there’s no cover from the elements here.
