The London outpost of international franchise Aqua their other branches are in Beijing and Hong Kong - is enviably located in what was the Dickens and Jones store on Oxford Street. Overlooking the very heart of the city but a world away from the noise and traffic below, this luxurious bar and restaurant complex is divided into several sections: there are separate Spanish and Japanese restaurants called Aqua Neuva and Aqua Kyoto respectively, the former of which now boasts its own dedicated cava bar. And then there's Aqua Spirit, a glamorous cocktail bar with a roof terrace that's one of the coolest spots to be in the city on a warm summer evening. Cocktails, we feel, always taste that little bit better when standing in stylish surroundings with the rooftops of London spread out before you. Accessible via an understated doorway on Argyll Street, visitors glide up to the fifth floor by private elevator and enter the space through an attractive lobby area. The bar itself is dominated by a striking circular counter and the cocktail list is full of tempting concoctions like the Spanish Garden vodka, wine, grapes, basil and green tea liqueur and the Iron Lotus, a blend of vodka, chilli, papaya and blood orange. We particularly like the sound of the Rose and Li, a mix of quality fizz, lychee, rose liqueur and a flowering rose bud. Drinks are impeccably presented and the bar makes a great place to impress a date - or anyone for that matter.
