About The Hamilton
Open 24 hours a day, this stylish, if sprawling Penn Quarter newcomer is a bar, restaurant and a top flight live music venue showcasing the best local and national acts. The line-up is agreeably eclectic: bluegrass, jazz and roots, to give just a few examples. And if you're going to a gig you'd be remiss not to check out the food and drink offerings. The Hamilton's restaurant serves sushi and contemporary charcuterie alongside larger plates, priding itself on a global menu that isn't limited by geography or cuisine, all in a distinctly upscale setting (think lots of leather booths and pristine white table linen under stylish chandeliers and a varnished wooden ceiling). The menu has a strong focus on locally sourced, hormone-free quality meats, too try their famous Hamilton burger or beef sliders if you want a meaty treat. There's also a mouth-watering selection of desserts (made in-house by pastry chef Lauren Petri) or we'd be tempted by a 'boozy shake' the Grand Marnier Creamsicle, for instance. The gorgeous antique mahogany bar is a great place to linger over a cocktail - try The Green Thumb, a deliciously fresh blend of gin cucumber and lime juice or explore the substantial wine list, which focuses on artisanal producers, primarily in the US and France. There's also a decent range of beers on draft (mainly American) and US and imported brews by the bottle. The venue is divided into distinct spaces depending on what you're after and these are often booked for private events whether it's the downstairs bar, the Loft or the 'Hamilton Live' that comes with a soundstage.
